This song is for my father, uncle and grandfather, who have all, sadly, passed on. For the album recording I sampled an old reel-to-reel tape of my grandfather speaking about his experiences in World War II — in particular, his survival of the sinking of HMAS Perth.
Fabulous posting. The HMASPerth and the USS Houston’s engagement of the Japanese fleet is one of the most heroic actions of the Second World War and whilst the USS Houston received the highest decoration for this action the HMAS Perth although deserving of the Victoria Cross received on such award from the Australian Government.
